An avid “hip-hop head,”
Carl Scott has spent a considerable amount of his life traveling. A
Chicago native, he attended school in Massachusetts and Pittsburgh, finishing his degree at Columbia College Chicago. A web and graphic designer by trade, Carl took
an interest in the anthropological origins of the different styles
of hip-hop he has encountered on his many visits to cities across
the nation. An art writer for Afrique Newsmagazine, he is
bringing his astute observations, witty criticisms and sheer love of
the music of his times to the airwaves.

Coming up in the 80's, Rico
still longs for his "two turntables and a mic." It all started
in his parents basement...spinning records and later discovering his own
unique sound. From Whodini to Blastmaster to KRS-1...to Pete Rock
and CL Smooth, Rico brings to his listeners the very "reasons"
why he fell in love with the music of his generation...and demonstrates how we
kept it moving throughout the 80's era.
